Outstanding Exporter Partnership Programme

From EPSA - European Public Sector Award

[edit]

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has signed cooperation agreements with nine Hungarian companies on the 30th of January. The so-called Outstanding Exporter Partnership Programme (OEPP; in Hungarian: KEPP) was established as a new initiative to tighten cooperation with domestic companies, which significantly contribute to Hungary’s export performance.

The partnership indicates the acknowledgement of the company’s foreign market activity and ensures the further help of this activity with the export development instruments offered by the government.

The participating companies were chosen from different sectors in order to represent the diversity of Hungary’s foreign trade.

It is one of the main priorities of the Ministry to increase Hungarian export. In order to reach this goal, those domestic companies, who are already successful in external markets play an important role as their success can contribute to the motivation of non-exporting or ad hoc exporting companies. Through their business experience, their extensive network and deep market knowledge they can support market entry preparation of the lesser-experienced exporter companies in new regions. Under this cooperation, OEPP companies inform us about the market and demand information, that we forward to national companies. Since they are SMEs as well, the multiplier effect is quite big. Therefore, the program is not only helpful and useful for OEPP participants but for a wide range of companies as well.

The Outstanding Exporter Partnership Programme’s further goal is to deepen the cooperation with the exporting companies, their tighter involvement into the planning of national export development strategies, export promotion programmes, and other export development tools. According to the programme, regular consultations have started since the signing ceremony. The companies participate in the implementation of the National Export Strategy's certain measures (NEXT) as well. Their experience in the international market and feedbacks help us to shape appropriate conditions for the exporter companies and locate those areas where we can effectively help.

The companies participating in the Programme have the potential to become widely known Hungarian “multinational companies”, the products produced by these companies could become brands that embody the country’s image at the international level.

Outstanding Exporter Partnership agreements carry the already tight cooperation with the partner companies to a new level since the partner companies offer help in reaching goals beyond the business success of their own enterprises. Therefore the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and its trade development agencies assure particular attention for the Outstanding Exporter Partners in the framework of their foreign market promotion activity.

In the past few years, Hungarian export performance has broken records year by year and has contributed significantly to the growing GDP of the Hungarian economy. Export value now reaches 90% of the Hungarian GDP.

At the same time, it is an important task to increase the contribution of domestic SMEs and large enterprises to the export, creating stable, export-able Hungarian medium-sized enterprises, because further real growth cannot be possible without them.

In the future, more partners will be invited to join the program. By2020 we are planning to raise the number of participants to 50.
